During
the mid-eighties a problem emerged in the world
of emergency warning devices. With the improved
sound proofing of automobiles combined with better
sound systems, the performance of sirens and
air-horns were becoming secondary warning devices;
drivers could no longer hear the emergency vehicles.
Fire departments were finding the only solution
to clear traffic and improve safety was to add
more warning lights. The philosophy was, if you
can’t be heard, make sure you can be seen.
This
solution was effective as long as the vehicles
electrical system could keep up. When it couldn’t,
firemen became endangered. Apparatus soon became
electrically unstable and unreliable with engines
and pumps shutting down or not even starting.
A better and more efficient way to produce emergency
warning signals was needed.
In 1994, W. Kenneth
Menke III, following the course set by his father,
founder of Public Safety Equipment/Code-3, responded
to the problem with the introduction of a revolutionary
and patented new oscillating warning light technology
to the industry, PowerArc!
The PowerArc technology,
in halogen and LED, provides brighter warning
light protection using fewer, more energy efficient
devices than traditional warning lights. It is
now possible to achieve two, if not three, times
the energy of a lighting package with less electricity
and less devices.
The introduction of LED’s in the emergency
warning light arena has taken the PowerArc oscillating
technology to the next level. PowerArc is the
only company to have moving LED’s. Using
a patented mechanism, PowerArc combines the advantages
of oscillation with the power of LED’s.
With
time, PowerArc has matured into a premier manufacturer
of warning lights specifically designed and built
for the fire service. Though not the largest
of the light manufacturers, one will find it
hard to beat PowerArc’s quality
and customer service. From the use of stainless
steel and zinc die cast parts, to humans actually
answering the telephone, we feel it is our privilege
to provide the products you choose to protect
you and your personnel. Our philosophy, if you
are buying a quality fire engine you should also
be buying a quality warning light system.
